Week Report #4
Jaden McGrath 11/1/18
This week in my animation class, we have been finishing up our flour sack project and are about to start on our lip sync projects. A project that I am really excited to start working on. The one thing I really wanted to in this class is bring a character to life by making it move and talk. So far I know how to make a character walk and I'm really want to learn more. The only thing that upset me this week was having to draw, delete, and then redraw frames of my flour sack over and over again to make sure that it didn't look crappy. But one thing that made me happy this week was getting to work on concept designs of the characters for my lip sync project coming up.

With just one week before the film's release, Illumination's The Grinch has taken it's off screen marketing into full affect. Most of it with things we usually would expect from something like the Deadpool movies. For example, for it's IMDB background ad, it uses the tagline, "Another remake? I hope you're proud, Hollywood." But people who live down in Los Angeles have seen more mean yet hilarious tag-lines with some of The Grinch's billboards and signs. Reports have come out of people seeing billboard ads for The Grinch saying things like, "Stop moving to Los Angeles, it's full." or "I've seen windier cities" or even sarcastic ones like, "Of course you'll make it as an actor.", "Hope you don't miss the audition.", or even, "Oh you're trying to make it in Hollywood? Let me know how that goes." Not only do these come off as incredibly hilarious, but they also keep in character to who the Grinch is. He's always been a sarcastic and overall mean jerk and these ads perfectly reflect that in the most hilarious way possible. This gives me hope that unlike their 2012 adaptation of another Dr. Seuss children book the Lorax, Illumination understands the story and is going to get this story right. I mean it can't be any worse than the Jim Carry version.
P.S. I know there are some people who like the 2000 Jim Carrey adaptation of The Grinch, but I personally am not a fan of it. But hey, that's just my opinion.
