Week Report #6
Jaden McGrath 11/30/18
This week in my animation class in BOCES, I continued to work on my 11 second club (a.k.a Lip Sync) project. In fact, I was actually able to finish it and I am honestly proud of how it turned out. I mean it was a bit stressful to complete with having to match the mouth to the words the characters were saying but I enjoyed drawing the characters and the backgrounds. The next thing I would like to learn is the next project we are doing with is 3-D animation.

In just two weeks, Sony Picture Animation will release their newest animated feature, "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse". In this film, instead of focusing on the most popular version of Spider-Man Peter Parker, it will be focusing on an alternate version of the character named Miles Morales (voiced by Shamiek Moore). Although Peter Parker (voiced by Jake Johnson) is in the movie, it will be an older version of him from the main marvel universe as his role in the film is to be Miles's mentor and to teach him how to be a true superhero and use his spider powers. But they aren't the only spider-people in the movie. There is also Spider-Gwen (voiced by Hailee Steinfeld), Spider-Man Noir (voiced by Nicholas Cage), Peni Parker a.k.a Sp//dr (voiced by Kimiko Glenn), and the hilariously weird Spider-Ham (voiced by John Mulaney). Now stuck together after the Kingpin (voiced by Liev Schreiber) uses a machine called the collider that accidentally brings them all to Miles's universe, they must work together to defeat him and get back to their own dimensions while also having to face other villains like the alternate universe version of the Green Goblin and even Miles's uncle Aaron Davis a.k.a The Prowler (voiced by Mahershala Ali). This film has had to be Sony Picture Animations most highly anticipated film in a long time and judging by those early reviews, I think that anticipation was well earned. Even though it is just two weeks away from release, some critics have actually already gotten to see the film and are giving it massively good reviews saying that this may not just be the best Spider-Man movie or the best animated movie this year, but also one of the best superhero films of all time. In fact as it stands right now, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse currently sits at a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Although that is subject to change, that is still incredibly impressive for this film to achieve especially in a year with great superhero movies like Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Deadpool 2, and the upcoming Aquaman film. This only gets me more pumped for the film and I can't wait for it to be released on December 14th, 2018.
