Week Report #9

Jaden McGrath            1/11/19

This week in my animation class here at BOCES, we have really started to get deeper into working with 3-D animation. I have now moved a little bit away from tutorials and have stared and finished with a project where I modeled a whole scene in 3-D animation. I chose to make a 3-D render of a movie theater room and I think I did a pretty good job modeling a theater room and was even able to add a picture on the screen so it looked like a movie was actually playing. I guess my only frustration was that when I worked on the lamp rig project, I got frustrated while making it jump and it just kept messing up when it came to the way it looked when jumping. But luckily, I was able to fix the issue and now it looks like it's jumping instead of flying. Other than that, I think I'm starting to enjoy 3-D animation a little bit more. I still want to start working on animating people though.

So believe it or not, we are only just about three months away until we are able to see what may or probably is the most anticipated film of 2019 and maybe of all time, Avengers: Endgame. It is the second half of the culmination of everything the MCU has given us for the last 11 years ever since the first Iron Man film back in 2008. There is no doubt that anyone who loves Marvel, superheroes, movies, or just nerd culture in general will be there opening weekend to see it. But sadly, there is one fan who might not make it to the films release date. MCU fan Alexander Q suffers from a very rare genetic disease called Fanconi Anemia that affects the bone marrow which results in decreased production of blood cells. Not to mention that he also fights both liver and mouth cancer. It's sad to say that he might not be alive by the time Avengers: Endgame releases. Sadly, he might not live to see the end of everything he has been following for the last eleven years. Or will he? I ask that because he asked the Marvel Studios page on Reddit if he could see an early screening of the film before he died which also led to an online petition on Reddit which supports him getting that early screening with the hashtag, #AVENGERS4ALEXANDER. And it looks like the petition has worked because he was contacted by Disney themselves saying that they are trying every thing in their power to give him that early screening of the film. I give my condolences to Alex and I truly hope that he does get that early screening of the film.
