Week Report #10

Jaden McGrath         2/1/19

This week in my animation class here at BOCES, I have mostly continued work on my MAYA 3-D competition project. And let me just say, it is both very fun and very difficult t complete. Especially since I am not allowed to receive help from my teacher. I think one of the most fun aspects of this project which I also believe is something that I am getting better at is the background and making the objects for the background. In my project, I have a rabbit or hare hoping through his new room while he sees his reflection in a mirror for the first time and gets scared. For the room, I've added a mirror of course but I also added a desk, bed, nightstand, shelf, computer, dresser, etc. Making those has actually been quite fun and I think they turned out really nice. But two aspects that have made me a bit frustrated are making the hare move and making the camera switch angles during the animation. Also, my render view has been glitching up lately so that makes me a bit aggravated as well. But in the future, I want to learn how to make a realistic human person in Maya.

All over the world, there are millions upon billions of nerds and geeks. They love a plethora of things like superheroes, Star Wars, movies, video games, etc. But who may be the king of all nerds has to be the man, the myth, and the legend himself, Kevin Smith. Not only is Kevin Smith probably the king of all nerds, he is also a filmmaker. And as a filmmaker, he puts all that he has into making his films no matter how strange a concept they might have. In fact for his first ever film Clerks, he sold his entire comic book collection just to finance the film. And if you go back to his older films like Clerks or Mallrats or Chasing Amy, you an always expect to see an appearance by his most popular characters, Jay (played by Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (played by Kevin Smith himself). Those two characters got so popular to the point that they ended up getting their own movie, "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" back in 2001. And now instead of making a sequel, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes are attempting to make a Jay and Silent Bob reboot. And just recently, the film was picked up by Saban Films who also made the 2017 Power Rangers movie reboot. I'm a big fan of the characters and so I am so excited to see what this reboot has in store.
