Week Report #14

Jaden McGrath        4/4/19

This week in my animation class here at BOCES, I have actually finished all of the modeling for my final project. Which means all there is left to do is to render all of the cameras, put it into premiere, and put it all together with credits and sound effects. After that, it will be completely ready to be uploaded and then it will be finished. And in my opinion, it is both some of my best 3-D animation and animation overall I've ever done, if I do say so myself. I have to say for the most part, the modeling was quite easy to make and I even had fun with some of it like the designing of background items like the slide and the picnic table. Even modeling the person was pretty easy for the most part. But there was one thing about making it that really started to get on my nerves. And that is the animation on the scene where the man is poking the mysterious stone. It might sound like a simple action, but when I tried it I came across multiple complications. Whether it be that the hand wasn't pointing in the right spot on the character's hand, the arm would bounce around where it wasn't supposed to, or the arm with the pointing hand going right through the other arm during the actual motion. I took me at least an hour to work it out each time I had to make the character do that, which was about three times. It definitely frustrating, but other than that, the modeling and animation process went smoothly. I even decided to use images in my animation to make parts look more realistic like the wood on the picnic table or the metal on both the slide and seesaw. I would still like to learn how to model a handmade character in 3-D animation.

With just a little over three weeks left to go, the anticipation for the upcoming cinematic event,  "Avengers: Endgame" is at an all time. Which may sound surprising since this film has been highly anticipated since both 2012 with the end credit scene in The Avengers showing off Thanos for the first time, but also last year with the end of Avengers: Infinity War. And that additional hype might be because of all the new things we have gotten for the film. First we got a second trailer which was followed by posters of each of the individual characters where the ones who died in Infinity War were in black and white while the characters that were still alive were in color with the tagline, "Avenge the Fallen" on all of the posters. Then it was revealed on multiple theater websites that the official running time for Avengers: Endgame will be 3 hours and 2 mins, which got fans even more excited. The earlier this week, we were given a special sneak peek where it revealed Thanos, Iron Man and Captain America's attempt at cooperation, Iron Man's new suit, and so much more. But at the same time, it was announced that on the same day, advanced tickets for Avengers: Endgame were officially on sale for people to buy weeks in advance. So as you may imagine, every fan went straight to those websites and began to purchase their advanced tickets. Apparently too many people that is. As apparently, so many people went on the sites to buy their tickets, it led to those websites actually crashing and having people hold for as little as three hours if they truly wanted their tickets. Even then, there was still a chance that those sites would crash on them. That just proves how big this film truly is. If it gets to the point where so many people want to buy advanced tickets that website after website crash because of that, then that shows just how big this film really is. Which makes sense seeing as how it is everything that the last 11 years of Marvel movies have built up to. All I know is that seeing this film opening weekend may prove difficult for some people due to how many people will be attending those screenings when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
