Class Evaluation

Jaden McGrath         6/7/19

1. Why did you take this class?

I decided to take this class here at Niagara Career and Technical Education Center is because i have been a big fan of movies for almost my entire life, both live action and animated. I see movies and cinema as my true passion and I found this program as a way to pursue that passion.

2. In general, what did you like most about this class?
I think the thing I like the most about this class was getting to meet a bunch of other people like myself. People who share my interests whether it be superheroes or movies. At my school outside of Boces, barely anyone there shares my interests, leading me to stay isolated. But at Boces, there are quite a few people like me, so it allows me to interact with my fellow classmates more than I ever could at Roy Hart.

3. In general, what did you like least about this class?
My least favorite thing about the class honestly would have to be the math assignments we would get every once in a while. I found them to be a bit of a distraction from the more important work like projects.

4. What was your most favorite project and why?
My favorite project I worked on this year would probable have to be my 11 Second Club in 2D animation. I chose that one because it allowed me to have the most create interpretation out of all the other projects in the year.

5. What was your least favorite project and why?
I think my least favorite project of the year would have to be our Maya demo on a bouncing ball. It was the project that I had the most struggle with to the point where I had to take a break on working on it because it angered me so much.

6. Discuss the overall effectiveness of the instructor (for example: preparation, availability, interest, content knowledge, expectations, etc.).
I thought that Ms. Manning (formerly known as Ms. Licata) was indeed a great instructor. In most scenarios where I experienced trouble with my projects, she would try and help me fix that problem as she possibly could. A good example of which is when my one character model was glitching out in my 3D 11 Second Club or when we had to make it look like a spaceship was flying in cut out animation.

7. What are the most valuable things you learned in the class?
I learned how to animate a scene in both 2D animation and 3D animation using keyframes as well as learning how to model an object in 3D.

8. Do you feel that this class will help you achieve your future academic or career goals? How or why (or why not)?
I do believe that this class will help me with my future career and education because most projects allowed me to be my own director, which being a film director is my dream career right next to acting.

9. How could this class be improved?
Maybe cutting back on some of the math assignments and that would make the class run a bit smoother due to not having distractions while working on projects.

10. What would you tell incoming students to help them be more prepared for the class?
I would tell them that at times it might seem difficult, but they should never give up and that way they will always succeed.
